Udeh-Okoye, a former National Youth Leader of the PDP, made his proclamation at the PDP national headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, asserting that the court ruling affirmed him as the rightful occupant of the position. Despite this, Senator Sam Anyanwu continues to physically control the office, with his personal belongings still present.

Addressing journalists, Udeh-Okoye emphasized that his actions were in line with the court’s decision, which was acknowledged by the PDP National Legal Adviser, Alhaji Kamaldeen Ajibade, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He stated, “I am resuming office today, December 30, in obedience to the Court of Appeal ruling in Enugu that removed the former National Secretary and confirmed me as the rightful replacement.”

Meanwhile, Senator Anyanwu has not responded publicly to the development, and sources close to him revealed that he has not sought a stay of execution against the ruling. His loyalists have dismissed Udeh-Okoye’s declaration as “a pipe dream,” insisting that Anyanwu remains the legitimate National Secretary.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, confirmed on Friday that the party had received the court’s judgment and intended to comply with its directive.

Udeh-Okoye also expressed gratitude to the PDP Governors Forum, the Former Ministers’ Forum, the Board of Trustees (BoT), and party leaders from his South-East zone for their support. He pledged to resume his duties officially on January 13, when staff return from the holiday break, and noted his commitment to restoring order within the party.

The leadership tussle follows previous attempts by party officials, including Ajibade, to suspend the acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Ikyas Damagum, and Anyanwu, further deepening the crisis within the PDP.
