The supermarket, owned by Chinese nationals, claimed that they were in the process of obtaining NAFDAC approval and translating the product labels. However, the agency is now investigating how the expired goods entered the country and is examining the supermarket’s warehouse to ensure the safety of the public.
NAFDAC has emphasized that products with labels solely in foreign languages are illegal in Nigeria, stressing the importance of English labeling to safeguard consumer health. The agency has invited the supermarket’s management for further investigation and reiterated its commitment to protecting public health.
