Ex-Imo Commissioner Fabian Ihekweme Apologises To Governor Uzodinma For Spreading False Claims
Fabian Ihekweme, the former Commissioner for Foreign and International Affairs in Imo State, has issued a public apology to Governor Hope Uzodinma for spreading false information about the state government.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a handwritten apology submitted to the police on January 27, Ihekweme admitted to fabricating allegations against the governor with malicious intent. He expressed regret for his actions and promised not to engage in further defamatory behavior.
Ihekweme’s apology came after his recent arrest following a petition by the Imo Democratic Alliance (IDA), which accused him of publishing seditious and inflammatory content designed to incite unrest. The police clarified that the rumors of his abduction were false, stating that his arrest was legal and supported by a signed warrant.
Ihekweme, who served in Uzodinma’s first term, reportedly intensified his attacks on the governor via social media after being excluded from the second-term cabinet. Government sources claim he was sidelined due to his alleged involvement in attempting to sell state-owned assets, including Avutu Poultry and the Okigwe Water Scheme—accusations that had previously led to his arrest.
His online accusations included allegations of corruption within the administration and claims that the Imo Concord Hotel was to be sold to Marriott Hotels. He also allegedly demanded a ₦500 million bribe from the governor to stop his criticisms.
At the time of writing, requests for comment from the police and state government representatives remain unanswered.
