Danjuma highlighted that authorities considered the region’s harsh climate and the difficulties faced by students and teachers during the fasting period.

To ensure minimal academic setbacks, the government has arranged special supplementary classes for Senior Secondary Certificate Examination candidates across public, private, and community schools to help them catch up on missed lessons.

“In response to concerns about school operations, the ministry has implemented a strategy that reduces academic disruptions while accommodating the challenges of Ramadan,” the statement read.

“Our directive ensures that students, particularly those preparing for crucial examinations, can continue their studies without significant setbacks.”

The ministry also reiterated an existing state law mandating school closures during Ramadan.

“Taking into account concerns raised by stakeholders, including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the ministry assures the public that additional lessons—starting on March 3, 2025—will be structured to support both students and teachers observing Ramadan while considering environmental conditions,” the statement concluded.
