Hajj Commission In Storm: NAHCON Breaks Silence As EFCC Arrests Top Officials

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly detained two senior officials of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) over allegations of fraud connected to the 2025 Hajj exercise.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to sources within the EFCC who spoke with The PUNCH, the officials are currently in custody.
“They are with us. We asked them to return the money they took, but they have yet to do so. That is why they remain in our custody,” one of the officials disclosed.

In response, NAHCON, through a statement released on Tuesday by its Assistant Director of Information and Publication, Fatima Usara, on behalf of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Abdullahi Usman, reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, transparency, and due process.

The commission stressed that it enjoys a strong working relationship with relevant government agencies, including anti-corruption and regulatory bodies, and would not shield any staff member or process found guilty of misconduct.

NAHCON also urged the media and the public to avoid speculation and allow due process to take its course.
The statement read:
“This cooperation is a core principle of the commission’s operations and reflects our belief in due process and the rule of law. The commission would not shield any staff or process found wanting.

“However, we appeal to the public and especially the media to exercise restraint in speculations and avoid subjecting potentially innocent persons to media trials. We are confident that the truth will emerge through the proper channels.

“The commission remains focused on post-Hajj evaluations, addressing operational challenges, and strengthening measures to deliver improved services in future Hajj operations.”
