Enemies Pushing You Into 2027 Trap – Oshiomhole Sends Strong Message To Jonathan
Former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has urged ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to safeguard his hard-earned reputation as a statesman by resisting calls to re-enter active politics, warning that such a move could diminish the respect he gained after conceding defeat in 2015.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Oshiomhole advised Jonathan against yielding to pressure to contest the 2027 presidential election, stressing that it would only tarnish his legacy.
The former APC national chairman argued that only Jonathan’s adversaries would encourage his comeback, adding that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would easily defeat him if he contested.
He maintained that Jonathan’s once-strong political base in the South-South had eroded over time, making a return to power unrealistic.
Oshiomhole said:
“How can Jonathan be a threat? We defeated him before when PDP was truly PDP. If a man had PDP at its peak and still lost, then only his enemy will push him into another election. If I were to advise him, I’d say: ‘Sir, preserve this status. You governed for eight years; you don’t need to make it nine. Jonathan has shown that you can remain relevant and respected out of power.’”
He further recalled Jonathan’s memorable concession speech in 2015, describing it as one of the former president’s most enduring legacies.
“If I were him, I’d spend the rest of my life building on that legacy. That famous declaration—that the blood of any Nigerian is not worth his political ambition—remains historic. He should allow those legacies to stand,” Oshiomhole added.
