The initial section, which spans 47.47 kilometres, consists of two carriageways and six lanes. Umahi further disclosed that by April next year, both Section One and half of Section Two are expected to be fully completed and commissioned. He explained that the contractor, Hitech Construction Company Ltd., had already delivered more than 80 percent of the reinforced concrete pavement.

Umahi expressed gratitude to the President and the contractor for their commitment, noting that unforeseen challenges—such as excavations reaching depths of up to 20 metres—would have been difficult to handle without their cooperation. He added that approximately three kilometres of sand filling between Ahmadu Bello Way and Eleko Junction remain to be completed, and commended the quality of the work so far.

The Controller of Works in Lagos, Olufemi Dare, also praised the contractor’s performance and drew the minister’s attention to a historic community palace preserved during construction, an action that earned the project team the gratitude of local residents.

Managing Director of Hitech Construction, Dany Abboud, stated that backfilling activities between Chainage 34 and Chainage 37 are ongoing, adding that dredging operations remain on schedule. He confirmed that engineers are closely monitoring settlement levels in swampy and waterlogged areas due to recent alignment changes.
