Checks by Daily Post on Monday revealed that Ranoil and Empire Energy have both reduced their pump prices. Ranoil cut its price from ₦1,440 to ₦1,370 per litre, while Empire Energy adjusted its rate from ₦1,430 to ₦1,383 per litre—representing decreases of ₦70 and ₦37 respectively.

A station manager, who chose to remain anonymous, explained that the price cuts were introduced to stay competitive within Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market. He noted that rising competition among fuel marketers is driving the need for frequent price adjustments.

At the same time, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and MRS stations are currently selling petrol at ₦1,361 and ₦1,367 per litre respectively.

The reductions come amid a sharp drop in global crude oil prices. Brent crude declined by nearly 10 percent to $100.2 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate fell to $88.85 per barrel.

This downturn followed confirmation from authorities in the United States and Iran that discussions are ongoing to ease tensions in the Middle East.

With crude prices trending downward, there are growing expectations that the Dangote Refinery may also lower its gantry petrol price.

Currently, the refinery’s gantry price stands at ₦1,245 per litre, after several increases recorded in March 2026. The price was raised from ₦1,175 to ₦1,245 per litre, effective from March 21, 2026.

According to the refinery, the updated rate applies to all pending and undelivered orders. In a notice to marketers, customers with outstanding purchases were advised to comply with the new pricing structure.
