Speaking on Thursday during an inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects across the state, Adeleke accused the Osun chapter of the All Progressives Congress of diverting the funds without considering the welfare of local government workers.

He explained that his administration has had to take on the responsibility of paying salaries for local teachers, healthcare workers, pensioners, and other council staff for over a year due to the situation.

According to the governor, despite a court ruling removing the APC-backed local government chairmen, funds meant for grassroots administration have allegedly been mismanaged.

Adeleke said his government chose not to abandon the workers, stressing that doing so would have crippled essential services, particularly in health and education, at the local level.

He revealed that the state has been using funds originally earmarked for development projects to sustain the local workforce, warning that failure to do so would have caused severe hardship for residents.

The governor also reviewed several projects, including road dualisation and flyover constructions across different towns, expressing satisfaction with progress while urging contractors to speed up delivery.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing ongoing projects and improving infrastructure, assuring residents that the government remains focused on their welfare despite the financial challenges.
