In its disciplinary report, UEFA advised the club to improve pre-match organisation and ensure players are fully prepared to start matches promptly at the referee’s signal.
Although Arsenal escaped a financial penalty, the governing body warned that any repeat offence could result in fines or even touchline sanctions, particularly ahead of their upcoming semi-final against Atlético Madrid.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid were fined €20,000 for a similar kick-off delay during their quarter-final match against Bayern Munich, according to reports.
Meanwhile, former Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has criticised Mikel Arteta’s tactical approach. The Italian international, who has since joined Flamengo, claimed that Arsenal’s heavy emphasis on set-piece routines made training feel overly repetitive.
Speaking to The Times, Jorginho said he sought a move where he could enjoy football again, adding that Arteta’s focus on set pieces felt like “homework.”
He noted that while such preparation can deliver results, excessive reliance on it may come at the expense of more expressive, attacking football.
