Adamu, a former commissioner in Adamawa State, said in a statement on Friday that his decision came after extensive consultations with stakeholders, supporters, and constituents across the senatorial district.
He explained that although there had been persistent calls for him to contest, he took time to reflect before making a formal declaration.
According to him, the encouragement and confidence expressed by people across the district played a key role in his decision to seek public office.
“After months of wide consultations, sincere reflections, and encouragement from constituents, stakeholders, supporters, and well-meaning citizens across Adamawa South, I have decided to answer the call to serve and formally join the race for the Adamawa South Senatorial seat,” he said.
“This decision did not come lightly. I chose to remain silent despite the growing appeals from constituents while I devoted time to consultations and careful reflection.”
Adamu added that the demand for what he called “purposeful, experienced, and people-oriented representation” ultimately pushed him to take the step.
“The overwhelming confidence reposed in me and the consistent demand for purposeful, experienced, and people-oriented representation have been truly humbling,” he said.
He noted that obtaining the ADC nomination form marked the official start of his journey to represent Adamawa South in the Senate.
“This marks the formal beginning of this journey and my commitment to offering myself for service to the good people of Adamawa South,” he added.
Adamu further described his ambition as a collective effort rooted in unity, progress, and improved representation for the district.
“This movement belongs to the people and is driven by our shared desire for purposeful representation, unity, and progress across Adamawa South,” he said.
“The journey has begun, and with the support of our people, we shall move forward together with unity, purpose, and determination.”
