Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed that he narrowly escaped death during the turmoil that followed the January 1966 military coup in Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He made the disclosure during an interview on the Before Tomorrow Comes Podcast, where he recounted how the post-coup violence and confusion created widespread fear within the military, leaving officers uncertain about their safety.

According to him, former military officer Hassan Katsina played a key role in ensuring his safety after warning that remaining in Kaduna during the crisis could be dangerous.

Obasanjo explained that Katsina advised him that his safety could not be guaranteed if he stayed in the city amid the unrest, prompting urgent arrangements for him to be relocated to Maiduguri in Borno State for protection. He noted that it was his first-ever visit to the northeastern city.

He added that he stayed in Maiduguri for almost a month while the country was still gripped by tension following the coup, before eventually returning to Kaduna once the situation stabilised and security improved.

In his words, he said he could have been killed during the period of confusion but was saved through the intervention of Hassan Katsina, who ensured he was moved to safety until calm was restored.
