A prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has dismissed speculations surrounding a possible alliance between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, Momodu insisted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar cannot be pressured into abandoning his presidential ambition.

According to him, the ongoing criticism against Atiku appears to be a calculated effort, stressing that the former vice president is experienced enough to protect the political structure he has spent years building.

“This campaign against Atiku is coordinated. He is not a foolish old man. He understands what he has painstakingly built over the years and intends to see it through. Nobody can intimidate him out of a race because it is his constitutional right to contest,” he said.

Momodu argued that there was no reason Peter Obi must automatically emerge as the preferred candidate, recalling that Atiku had previously chosen Obi as his running mate in the 2019 presidential election, yet they failed to secure victory.

“He picked Obi as his vice-presidential candidate in 2019 and they still lost. So why must everything now revolve around Obi? Why can’t Obi also accept being a running mate?” he asked.

Reacting to Obi’s growing popularity, especially among Nigerian youths, the ADC stalwart cautioned against portraying any politician as Nigeria’s sole hope, insisting that several competent individuals within the ADC are capable of leading the country.

“I don’t understand why some people are behaving as though one particular politician is Nigeria’s saviour and without him the country is doomed. There are many credible aspirants in the ADC,” he stated.

Momodu further described suggestions that Atiku should step aside for Obi as disrespectful, maintaining that Atiku’s long-standing political experience qualifies him to remain in the race.

“I will continue to support Atiku. Telling him to step down for Obi is disrespectful and insulting,” he added.
