Obasa made the announcement on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Agege, Lagos, as political activities intensify ahead of the APC primaries for the 2027 general elections.

He stated that his decision followed calls from APC leaders in Agege who urged him to join the race for the National Assembly seat.

During the meeting, the Speaker also appealed to party members and stakeholders to rally support for the aspiration of the immediate past Chairman of Agege Local Government, Ganiyu Egunjobi, who is contesting for the Agege Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

He further endorsed Azeez Oladapo Yusuf Ninolowo for Agege Constituency II, signaling early political alignments within the constituency.

The development has heightened political activities in Agege, with various aspirants stepping up consultations and mobilising support ahead of the APC primaries.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Anambra State chapter of the APC has expelled 30 members who instituted legal action against the party.

The decision was taken during a state executive meeting held in Awka, presided over by Deputy Chairman Hon. J. C. Okeke.

The party’s State Publicity Secretary, Dr. Valentine Oliobi, who addressed journalists after the meeting, said the expulsion was in line with Article 21, Section 5 of the APC constitution.

He noted that some of the expelled members were aspirants for the House of Representatives who had also purchased nomination forms before taking the party to court.

Oliobi added that the meeting also ratified the composition of the party’s election and disciplinary committees for the state chapter
