Senator Ali Ndume has said that 42 pupils were abducted by Boko Haram insurgents during an attack on Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ndume, who represents Borno South, said he received the update from school authorities and community leaders on Saturday.

The school was reportedly attacked in the early hours of Friday by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters.

Earlier, a resident who spoke anonymously told Daily Trust that about 20 children were initially declared missing after the invasion.

The source said, “As at the last count, 20 children are said to be abducted from the school. Our fear is that the terrorists would conscript them if the security operatives did not rescue them.”

The Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Askira, confirmed the attack but said full details were still unclear.

He stated that many students fled into the bush during the assault, adding that the number of abducted pupils was yet to be fully confirmed.

Ndume gives breakdown

In a statement, Ndume explained that 28 pupils were taken from the primary section, four students from GDSS (two males and two females), while 10 other children were abducted from nearby homes, bringing the total to 42 victims.

He described the incident as horrifying, noting that the abductions occurred during early morning school activities.

The senator called on troops of the Joint Task Force North-East Operation HADIN KAI and other security agencies to intensify search-and-rescue operations to recover the victims.

He also extended condolences to families affected by recent attacks in Chibok communities and other parts of Southern Borno.
