A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Ibrahim Wala, has alleged that the party’s presidential primary election was characterised by intimidation, vote buying and other irregularities.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Wala, who is known to be a loyalist of former Rivers State governor and ADC presidential aspirant Rotimi Amaechi, said he monitored the exercise in Gombe State.

Amaechi had earlier rejected the outcome of the primary, claiming the process lacked transparency and fairness.

Reacting in a Facebook post on Wednesday, Wala supported Amaechi’s position and described the primary as a “brazen, shameless auction.”

According to him, the exercise fell short of the democratic values the party had pledged to uphold. He alleged that some voters were intimidated and denied the opportunity to participate during the process.

Wala further claimed that the outcome of the election was allegedly influenced outside the official voting procedure.

The ADC chieftain also urged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who was leading in the results announced so far, to distance himself from what he described as “dirty, concocted primary election results.”

He maintained that he possessed what he called “undisputed evidence of irregularities and voter disenfranchisement” during the exercise in Gombe State.

Wala further alleged that an individual approached him with an offer to facilitate access to members of the committee leadership at their hotel in order to secure favours.

“I was personally approached by an agent offering to take me to the committee leadership’s hotel room to secure whatever I needed,” he claimed.

He also alleged that the hotel room served as a secret meeting point where party leaders allegedly concluded manipulative arrangements behind closed doors after the voting process.
