Amaechi Is My Brother, But He Made A Mistake Joining ADC” — Wike Fires Political Bombshell
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticised former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, for contesting the 2027 presidential primary under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the move as a political miscalculation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking during his monthly media briefing in Abuja on Monday, Wike said he would have advised Amaechi against participating in the ADC race had the former Rivers State governor sought his opinion.
Wike, who once served as Chief of Staff during Amaechi’s tenure as governor of Rivers State, said he foresaw the outcome of the contest from the outset due to the party’s internal structure.
“Amaechi is my brother. I served as Chief of Staff in his administration. The moment I saw him aligning with that group, I knew how it would end. If he had consulted me, I would have told him not to go there. It was obvious he would not get transparency or due process,” Wike said.
The FCT minister further alleged that the ADC’s leadership arrangement was tailored to favour former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, leaving little room for a fair and open contest.
According to him, the emergence of former Senate President David Mark as the party’s chairman was a clear indication of where the process was headed.
“When I saw the ADC setup and noticed David Mark’s involvement, I laughed. Having worked with these individuals, I know how they operate. That arrangement was completely designed for Atiku,” he stated.
Wike maintained that Amaechi should have exercised greater caution before joining the race, arguing that the political structure within the party did not inspire confidence in a credible primary process.
“You cannot set a trap for me. We know ourselves in politics. Who would believe that such a structure could deliver transparency or guarantee a free and fair election?” he queried.
He added that Amaechi may have been influenced by widespread criticism of the current administration, which, according to him, was used to attract political figures and lend credibility to the coalition.
