A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ismaeel Ahmed, has expressed doubts about the electoral strength of a possible presidential ticket featuring Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, particularly in Kano State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking during an interview on TVC, Ahmed argued that while Obi enjoys considerable popularity in several parts of Nigeria, his support base in Kano remains limited.

According to him, the success of any Obi-Kwankwaso alliance in the state would largely depend on Kwankwaso’s political influence and ability to mobilize voters.

Ahmed referenced the 2023 presidential election, noting that Kwankwaso demonstrated significant political strength in Kano by securing more than one million votes. He said the outcome underscored the former governor’s enduring appeal among the state’s electorate.

However, he cautioned that political dynamics could shift ahead of the next election, making it difficult to assume that previous voting patterns would be repeated.

He further suggested that the structure of a joint ticket could influence voter sentiment. Ahmed argued that an arrangement with Obi as the presidential candidate and Kwankwaso as his running mate might not resonate strongly with Kano voters.

According to him, many residents of the state could be more inclined to support a ticket in which Kwankwaso occupies the top position rather than a subordinate role.

“While Peter Obi may be very popular in other regions of the country, he certainly lacks that in Kano State. Kwankwaso will bring in a significant number of votes for him, but I doubt that will be enough to surpass the likes of Atiku and Tinubu,” Ahmed said.
