Adejobi, who previously served as the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, described such interventions as inappropriate and detrimental to efforts aimed at combating crime and maintaining law and order.

In a statement shared on his official X account on Monday, the senior police officer stressed that anyone attempting to influence law enforcement agencies to overlook criminal acts contributes to the problem of insecurity.

He stated that he would not entertain requests from individuals seeking leniency or special treatment for persons facing criminal allegations.

According to him, his commitment to fighting crime remains unwavering, and efforts to secure the release of suspected offenders through personal appeals or pressure tactics would not be successful.

“I have always maintained my principles when it comes to combating crime and criminality. Please do not contact me to plead on behalf of a criminal. It is inappropriate, and such efforts will not yield any result,” he wrote.

Adejobi further argued that those who seek to obstruct the course of justice by lobbying security agencies on behalf of suspected criminals should also be held accountable.

“Anyone who mounts pressure on the police or other security agencies to release, pardon, or overlook the actions of a criminal is equally contributing to criminality,” he added.

He also called on both citizens and security institutions to remain steadfast in addressing crime and social vices across the country.

According to him, reducing criminal activities requires a collective commitment from law enforcement agencies and members of the public alike.

“There should be no compromise. We must remain firm and united in our efforts to curb crime and other social vices in society,” he stated.

Adejobi maintained that justice must be allowed to take its course and that individuals accused of crimes should face due legal process without undue interference or external pressure.
