I Have Serious Fear’—ADC Spokesman Casts Doubt On INEC’s Ability To Deliver Credible 2027 Election
The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has raised concerns about the conduct of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, saying he fears the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may not be adequately prepared for the polls.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking during an interview with The Sun, Abdullahi attributed his concerns to what he described as systemic challenges within both INEC and the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government.
He also argued that the country’s economic hardship under President Bola Tinubu’s administration could discourage voter participation, warning that low turnout might create opportunities for electoral malpractice.
Abdullahi further pointed to the country’s security challenges, saying persistent insecurity could prevent elections from taking place in some parts of Nigeria.
According to him, one of his biggest concerns is whether INEC has received the funding required to begin critical election preparations, particularly the procurement of materials and equipment sourced from outside the country.
“There is so much procurement INEC usually embarks on. A lot of them are offshore, outside the country. If by now INEC has not received funding for those procurements or has not been able to do those procurements, then the election is threatened. That is my number one fear.
“I am worried that INEC may not be ready for the election, whether deliberately or inadvertently. I have serious fear that INEC may not be ready for the election.
“They may rig the election and tell people to go to court, thinking that politicians will go to court, and that they will live happily thereafter,” he said.
