Keyamo Fires At Peter Obi Camp, Insists 2027 Is Tinubu’s Coronation

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term in office, predicting a decisive victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.

Keyamo made the remarks on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he argued that the President’s re-election prospects are supported by what he described as demographic realities and the APC’s growing electoral strength.

According to the minister, his confidence is not based on political optimism but on an assessment of voting patterns and the party’s recent performance in off-cycle governorship elections.

Keyamo dismissed the prospects of potential challengers, including Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi and African Democratic Congress (ADC) leader Atiku Abubakar, insisting they do not pose a significant threat to Tinubu’s re-election bid.

He pointed to the APC’s victories in the 2026 off-season governorship elections as evidence that the ruling party remains firmly positioned ahead of the next presidential contest.

“I want to make a profound statement, not out of arrogance or overconfidence, but based on demographic calculation. The 2027 election is a coronation, not an election,” Keyamo said, adding that he could not see where Obi’s expected votes would come from.

Atiku Responds to Tinubu’s Political Remarks

Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged President Tinubu to focus on addressing the challenges facing the country rather than engaging in early political rhetoric ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku criticised the President’s recent declaration that he would “wrestle” his political opponents to victory.

The former vice president described the comment as an attempt to divert attention from the administration’s performance, arguing that Nigerians were more concerned with governance than campaign-style statements.

Tinubu made the remark on Tuesday while receiving members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Atiku also expressed concern that the President’s comments came in response to the bishops’ appeal for credible, transparent and peaceful elections, saying the administration should instead prioritise addressing the country’s pressing economic and security challenges.
