‘Fuel Subsidy Is Gone’, President Tinubu Declares (Video)
Nigeria’s new President, Bola Tinubu, announced in his inaugural speech at the Eagle Square that the era of subsidy payment on fuel has come to an end. Tinubu stated that his government intends to redirect the funds previously allocated to fuel subsidy towards infrastructure development and other areas to strengthen the economy. He also assured the public that his administration will ensure a unified exchange rate.
In order to foster economic growth, Tinubu pledged to remodel the economy and prioritize job creation to boost the Gross Domestic Product. He acknowledged the current high interest rates and promised to review them. Furthermore, he expressed his commitment to attracting both foreign direct and local investments by addressing multiple taxation issues.
The President stressed the importance of national security and vowed to eradicate terrorism and criminality in the country. He outlined plans to reform the security architecture, invest in security personnel, enhance training programs, and provide better equipment to ensure the safety of the nation.
