Shettima, Yilwatda Sprint To Podium At APC Rally, Vice President Shows Off Signature Dance Moves
Vice President Kashim Shettima and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, attracted attention at the party’s presidential campaign rally in Cross River State on Monday after sprinting towards the podium in an energetic display.
The two APC leaders surprised supporters with their lively entrance, as Shettima also performed his familiar dance steps on stage, with Yilwatda joining him as they approached the podium.
The light-hearted moment added excitement to the gathering, which formed part of the ruling party’s political engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The display also drew attention to Shettima’s physical energy, although no official political message was attached to the performance.
Meanwhile, the APC National Chairman, Yilwatda, has reiterated the party’s position that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should not alter the timetable for the 2027 general elections in a manner that could give any political party an unfair advantage.
Yilwatda made the position known while receiving an ECOWAS pre-election fact-finding mission led by former Sierra Leonean Vice-President Victor Foh at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.
The meeting, attended by members of the party’s National Working Committee, was disclosed in a statement issued by Yilwatda’s Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki.
The APC chairman maintained that INEC must adhere strictly to its electoral timetable, insisting that all political parties should be treated equally throughout the electoral process.
He stressed that the election process must remain fair, transparent and predictable, warning against any adjustment of deadlines that could favour a particular party.
Yilwatda also claimed that the APC had moved ahead of other political parties in several preparations, including inaugurating its campaign council, commencing campaign activities and uploading the names of its candidates.
He further described the APC as Nigeria’s largest political party, claiming that it had approximately 13 million registered members whose identities could be verified through their National Identification Numbers and voter details.
The national chairman also highlighted the party’s political structure, which he said included more than 261,000 executives nationwide, 31 governors, 88 senators and 208 members of the House of Representatives, alongside a significant presence in state assemblies.
His comments came as political parties intensified preparations and engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
