Yahaya Bello Offers To Relocate To Kano For Two Weeks To Campaign For Tinubu Ahead Of 2027

Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has offered to relocate to Kano State for two weeks to campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Bello made the declaration during an empowerment programme organised by the Leke Abejide Foundation in Kano, where he urged Yoruba residents and other non-indigenous communities in the state to increase their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Bush Radio Academy, the former governor challenged the communities to improve on the votes they reportedly mobilised for Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, arguing that the nearly 500,000 votes recorded at the time should not represent their highest electoral contribution.

Bello expressed confidence that the political structure and influence of the programme’s organiser, Leke Abejide, could help secure at least two million votes for Tinubu in Kano during the 2027 election.

He also urged residents to support APC candidates contesting various elective positions, including the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and state Houses of Assembly.

Appealing to Northerners to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition, Bello argued that the president should be allowed to complete the constitutionally permitted eight years in office.

He also defended the administration’s performance, citing the ongoing Kano-Abuja Federal Highway project as evidence of infrastructure development. Bello disclosed that he had arranged to inspect the road two days before the programme and expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded.

Meanwhile, Abejide announced a ₦500 million interest-free loan scheme for women operating within cooperative societies as part of the foundation’s empowerment initiative.

The lawmaker, who represents Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State, explained that his long-standing relationship with Kano influenced his decision to organise the programme in the state.

Abejide said he had lived and established his business in Kano for approximately 34 years, describing the initiative as an opportunity to appreciate the people and communities that contributed to his journey.

The beneficiaries include Yoruba women from eight states, as well as members of the Igala and Ebira communities from Kogi State.

He further disclosed that widows would receive food items, clothing and financial assistance, while additional empowerment programmes were being planned for young people and men.

The lawmaker added that the foundation had established monitoring mechanisms to ensure beneficiaries repay the loans, enabling the funds to support more people over time.

In his remarks, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf assured non-indigenous residents that his administration would continue to protect their interests and create opportunities for their participation in governance.

Yusuf revealed that his government had appointed special advisers representing Yoruba, Igbo and northern minority communities, noting that similar arrangements could be extended to the Igala and other groups.

The governor described non-indigenous residents as important contributors to Kano’s development and encouraged them to support Tinubu and APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

He also praised Abejide for extending his foundation’s empowerment activities beyond his constituency, assuring residents of continued efforts to maintain security, peace and equal opportunities across the state.
