In 2012, he was convicted and sentenced to 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to ten counts of money laundering.

In a recent development, David Tomlinson informed the judge at Southwark Crown Court on Thursday that the money should be confiscated based on factual findings related to the funds.

This decision marks the end of a decade-long legal battle and prosecutors’ efforts to seize the funds believed to be the proceeds of Ibori’s activities in the UK.

Judge David Tomlinson of Southwark Crown Court was presented with the calculations for the seized amount, taking into account his findings. He is expected to finalize and formally issue the confiscation order on Friday or shortly thereafter.
