In addition to the debt relief, Putin also declared that Moscow would allocate an additional $90 million for various initiatives. He advocated for the expansion of African countries’ representation in the UN Security Council and other UN structures, emphasizing Russia and Africa’s mutual interest in fostering cooperation across all areas and strengthening ‘honest, open, constructive’ partnerships.

Plans are already underway to assist in the establishment of new African embassies and consulates in Russia, Putin shared. The reopening of embassies in Burkina Faso and Equatorial Guinea is progressing according to plan.

Putin further stressed the importance of sovereignty, suggesting that it’s not a static achievement but a state that must be consistently protected. In this light, Russia offered assistance to African nations in combating threats like terrorism, piracy, and transnational crimes. Putin assured that Russia would continue to train personnel from African countries.

Expressing optimism about the potential of Russian businesses, Putin affirmed they have much to offer African partners. The transition to national currencies and the development of transport and logistics chains are expected to boost mutual trade turnover.

“Russia is ready to provide trade preferences to Africa, support the creation of modern production sectors, the agricultural sector, and provide assistance through relevant international structures and agencies,” said Putin. He further committed that “Russia will always be a responsible international supplier of agricultural products.”
