According to a recent statement provided to the press, the board stated that these speculations stem from troublemakers attempting to incite religious tensions and tarnish the minister’s reputation.
The board clarified that their visit to the former Governor of Rivers State was successful, with the minister warmly welcoming them and granting approval for their requests.
The board, led by its Chairman, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, Etsu Nupe, visited the minister to seek clarification on the status of their plots, numbered 63 and 99, in light of the administration’s effort to recover outstanding ground rent debts.
During the meeting, Governor Wike extended the three-month ultimatum given to religious groups, considering their dependence on voluntary donations from members.
The Minister emphasized that the financial limitations of religious organizations, which are not profit-oriented, warrant this extension, emphasizing that it’s not targeted at any specific group, religion, or ethnicity. The administration’s aim is to serve the collective interest.
Governor Wike reiterated that the present administration, led by President Bola Tinubu, respects all faiths and will not discriminate against any group or individual.
