These devastating airstrikes were executed on Thursday, November 2, 2023, by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI in two identified terrorist strongholds.
The first target was in the vicinity of Bulabulin, along the Komadugu-Yobe River near Geidam in Yobe State.
According to security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the Bulabulin target was identified as a significant hub of Boko Haram activities, from where the terrorists had recently coordinated attacks on local communities in Gaidam LGA, leading to the loss of 16 lives.
Additionally, an improvised explosive device (IED) attack was carried out on mourners attending the burial of the 16 victims of the initial attack. Airforce resources were deployed with an airborne electro-optical system to target this area.
The airstrikes were carried out in coordination with ground troops in the region to maximize their impact, resulting in significant damage to the Boko Haram hideout, the elimination of over 100 fighters, and the destruction of two gun trucks and several structures.
The second set of airstrikes took place in Degbawa village on the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza LGA, Borno State, where the targets were a group of more than 60 terrorists, including some of their Field Commanders, who were reportedly holding a meeting to plan attacks on military locations in Gwoza and its surroundings.
