Mr. Ian Attfield, Senior Education Adviser at FCDO, expressed this dedication during a courtesy visit to the Governor and his State Cabinet as part of his one-day visit to the region.
Mr. Attfield explained that the purpose of his visit was to evaluate the impact of their interventions aimed at enhancing foundational skills and improving the quality of education in the state.
He commended the state government’s determination to tackle its difficulties, especially in the crucial domains of education and healthcare.
“We appreciate your dedication, and we are eager to enhance our partnership to achieve our mutual objectives,” stated Mr. Attfield.
In response, Governor Namadi expressed gratitude to the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) for its assistance in addressing various challenges in the state, spanning education, healthcare, and governance.
“Through the support of the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) via its Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE).
and Partnership for Reform and Learning (PERL-ARC) programs, we have made significant strides in addressing our issues in education, healthcare, and governance,” noted Governor Namadi.
The governor also revealed that Jigawa State has allocated over 2.6 billion naira for the recruitment, training, and induction of 6,000 new teachers to help alleviate the substantial teacher shortage in the state. It was disclosed that the state currently faces a shortage of approximately 30,000 teachers.
