Plateau Massacre: Reno Omokri Criticizes Tinubu’s Jubilant Posture And Admirer Cheers After Mosque Prayers In Lagos
Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has expressed criticism of President Tinubu’s seemingly jubilant mood and reception of cheers from admirers after observing prayers at the central mosque in Lagos. The president, presently in Lagos for the festive season, faced scrutiny from Omokri in light of the recent Plateau massacre that claimed the lives of hundreds of Christians during this joyous period.
Taking to Twitter, Omokri remarked, “Perhaps President Tinubu could have been a bit less ostentatious in his celebratory mood today, after Jum’ah prayers, given the mood of the nation arising from the massacre of Nigerians in Plateau State. The optics do not look good.”
“In fact, if I were him, I would have declared at least seven days of national mourning, flown the flag at half-mast, and then used my first public appearance after the tragedy to give a minute’s silence for the victims and then QUIETLY gone about my end-of-year activities. Today’s outing by President Tinubu could be misconstrued as being too flashy, like a rock star preening himself for the paparazzi. It was definitely triumphalist, not the actions expected of a man in charge of a nation where over a hundred citizens had just been slaughtered. The President could have been more sensitive and should have displayed empathy.”
“If you do well, we will commend you. But if you act in a manner that is less than expected, we will condemn you. You have been doing well, Mr. President. But this does not sit well with me.”
