On Sunday, it was reported that the military regimes of Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso have jointly declared their immediate withdrawal from ECOWAS. This announcement was conveyed through a joint statement read out on Niger national television, marking a significant shift in the political dynamics of the region.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Femi Fani-Kayode shared his thoughts: “The withdrawal of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Mali from ECOWAS is a sad and unfortunate development. The fact that they have formed a hostile confederation right on our northern border is also troubling and has grave implications for our security.
