Following these developments, the FCCPC, headed by Acting Executive Vice Chairman Adamu Ahmed Abdullahi, took action against Sahad Store. Abdullahi disclosed that a preliminary investigation revealed misleading pricing and lack of transparency, violating Section 115 (3) of the law, which prohibits consumers from being charged prices higher than those displayed. The FCCPC sealed the store, emphasizing that it would remain closed pending further investigation.

Abdullahi clarified that the store’s management had been invited to provide a defense but failed to appear initially. Subsequently, a lawyer representing the store attended, but lacked familiarity with the case details. The FCCPC’s enforcement aimed to ensure compliance with the law, citing potential fines and legal consequences for corporate entities and their directors found guilty of contravention.
