After weeks of being on the run, Mrs. Adachukwu Okafor, a lawyer accused of abusing her 10-year-old house help, has been apprehended by the Nigeria Police. The arrest comes following the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Ohanenye’s announcement of a N2 million reward for information leading to Okafor’s location. The lawyer allegedly used weapons such as a broken bottle, a knife, and an electric pressing iron to inflict harm on the minor.

The Ministry of Women Affairs, through its Special Assistant on Media, Ohaeri Joseph, confirmed the arrest in a statement. The video of Okafor’s actions had gone viral on social media, prompting the minister’s reward offer. Ohaeri assured the public that the ministry would collaborate with the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

The statement also mentioned that the victim, the 10-year-old girl, is currently undergoing medical treatment in the hospital. The ministry expressed confidence that justice would be served in the case. In a separate incident, military troops have arrested the PDP ward chairman and two others suspected of gunrunning in Zamfara.
