The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) distributed 80,000 bags of 10kg rice to vulnerable individuals in Lagos State on Wednesday to alleviate challenges faced in the country.

The distribution event took place at the State House, Ikeja, Lagos, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Aliko Dangote, and other dignitaries present.

A part of a larger initiative to distribute over one million 10kg bags of rice across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, Dangote emphasized the foundation’s commitment to promoting compassion and solidarity.

This rice distribution complements the daily distribution of 12,500 loaves of bread in Lagos, aimed at alleviating challenges faced by vulnerable communities in the state.

Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Dangote’s initiatives and appreciated his compassion for those in need, acknowledging his choice to prioritize welfare over profit.

Dangote justified extending the Ramadan initiative to cover communities of all faiths, recognizing the widespread hardship due to high food prices.

ADF’s CEO, Zouera Youssoufou, highlighted collaboration with NGOs and civil societies to ensure donations reach the most vulnerable.

Group Executive Director Commercial Operations at Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), Fatima Aliko-Dangote, noted the intervention’s aim to reach all local government areas in Nigeria.

She highlighted other initiatives, including daily bread distribution and support for women’s businesses.

Dangote emphasized Lagos State’s significance to the Group, being home to major investments like the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Dangote Fertiliser Plant.
