President Bola Tinubu has given his stamp of approval to the appointment of Abdullahi Bello as the new Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). This announcement was made in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by the presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale. Ngelale further mentioned that Bello’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Senate.
President Tinubu has high expectations for Bello, believing that he will steer the Bureau towards fulfilling its mandate of upholding exemplary standards of public morality. Described as a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience spanning consulting, banking, law enforcement, financial services, and academia, Dr. Bello is poised to bring a wealth of expertise to his new role.
In the statement, President Tinubu expressed confidence that once confirmed by the Senate, Bello will lead the Bureau with unwavering integrity, ensuring adherence to the highest ethical standards in government affairs. The focus remains on ensuring that the conduct of public officers aligns with principles of morality and accountability.
This appointment sees Bello taking over from Aliyu Kankia, who previously served as the acting Chairman of the Bureau.
In another development, President Tinubu has issued a directive to the Nigerian army, instructing them to expedite the payment of benefits owed to the families of slain soldiers within a ninety-day period. This directive was revealed during the burial ceremony of the fallen soldiers at the National Cemetery in Abuja.
President Tinubu hailed the deceased soldiers as individuals of integrity and valor, who made the ultimate sacrifice in safeguarding the nation against both internal and external threats.
