Adeleke Breaks Silence On Terror Threat, Orders Osun Residents To Stay Vigilant

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents across the state to remain highly vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements and activities to security agencies.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the governor’s directive followed a security meeting involving the Department of State Services (DSS), leaders of the Muslim community and representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Osun State.

The meeting reportedly centred on intelligence received by the DSS concerning an alleged plan by terrorists to infiltrate parts of the South-West and unleash violence.

Information presented during the meeting indicated that the alleged plot could be aimed at creating fear among residents, discouraging voter participation and disrupting the 2027 general elections.

Reacting to the development, Adeleke called on residents to take security matters seriously and maintain close cooperation with law enforcement agencies in their respective communities.

The governor urged residents to immediately alert the police and other relevant security agencies whenever they observe unusual activities, suspicious individuals or unexpected movements of people within their neighbourhoods.

Adeleke commended the DSS for what he described as proactive efforts to address the reported threats, while directing other security agencies to assess the situation and develop effective measures to protect lives and property.

He also disclosed plans to convene a meeting of the State Security Council to examine the situation and evaluate the effectiveness of the state’s existing response strategies.

The governor further called on traditional rulers across the state to convene meetings of their respective traditional councils to discuss the security concerns and strengthen community-level vigilance.

Adeleke stressed that residents, traditional institutions and security agencies must work together through timely information sharing to prevent any threat to public peace from escalating.
