Adeleke Moves From Tinubu To Wike, Sparks Fresh Political Speculation
Freshly re-elected Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as part of his ongoing consultations in Abuja following his victory in the recent governorship election.
The meeting was made public through a photograph shared on social media by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka.
In the photograph, Adeleke and Wike were seen shaking hands while jointly holding the governor’s Certificate of Return.
Olayinka captioned the image: “Governor Ademola Adeleke visits the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.”
Adeleke’s visit to Wike came just hours after he held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
During his meeting with the President, Adeleke presented his Certificate of Return and thanked Tinubu for what he described as the conduct of a free and fair governorship election in Osun State.
Tinubu, while speaking to Adeleke, cautioned him against victimising or stigmatising his political opponents following his electoral victory.
The President stressed that Adeleke had won an election rather than conquered anyone, urging him to use his victory to promote unity and good governance in the state.
Tinubu said the people of Osun had made their choice and expressed their desire for Adeleke to continue governing the state.
He said: “Don’t stigmatise any of your opponents. And the people of Osun State pronounced their judgment on you that they love you, they want you to govern. So you’re going back to govern.
“Anybody, any democrat, anybody in the political environment who cannot celebrate the joy of a free and fair election does not deserve the laughter and the happiness of democracy.
“Don’t make a single individual a victim of your campaign. Don’t. Not for you alone; not for the sake of Osun alone, for the generations to come. It’s more important for you to build a network of unity.
“As I said, you did not conquer anybody. You won an election. That is the essence of democracy. I’m so happy that we have this talk.”
