Following their defeat to the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a penalty shootout (4-2) on Wednesday night, Bafana Bafana missed the opportunity to advance to the final.
Now, the former champions are set to face the Democratic Republic of Congo in the third-place playoff at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Saturday.
Speaking to the press in Abidjan on Friday, Broos stated, “We delivered an impressive performance against Nigeria. It was a remarkable display, showcasing our team’s strength.”
He continued, “Exiting the tournament after 120 minutes is always disheartening. When you perform exceptionally well, the disappointment is profound. Tomorrow’s match holds significance.”
Broos emphasized the mental aspect of the game, noting, “It depends on which team can recover mentally because losing in such a manner was also difficult for the Democratic Republic of Congo.”
