Carter Efe, who transitioned from skit-making to music, revealed this while expressing frustration over the unfair treatment Nigerian creatives receive from Western music executives and event organizers in the latest episode of the Spill With Phyna Podcast.
He recounted, “During Asake’s performance at the venue last year, the management of the O2 Arena turned off the lights. Westerners mistreat us, yet we continue to collaborate with them. They forced Asake off the stage. They switched off the lights. I’m not fabricating this.”
The podcast host, Phyna, proposed that Nigerian artists should come together and arrange concerts for their fans within the country. However, Carter Efe dismissed her suggestion, citing Nigeria’s lack of adequate facilities to host such large-scale events.
