The budget proposal was officially approved during a FEC meeting held on Thursday at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, with Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, briefing State House correspondents afterward. He also revealed that the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for 2025-2027 was approved and would be transmitted to the National Assembly either on Friday, November 15, or Monday, November 18.

Despite concerns over the late submission of the proposal, Bagudu expressed confidence that the National Assembly would approve the budget before the end of the year. He attributed this optimism to the strong working relationship between the executive and the legislature, emphasizing mutual respect and transparency in the process.

“We are confident because we have built a strong relationship with the National Assembly. The areas of misunderstanding have been minimized, and due to this mutual respect, Mr. President has been transparent with the leadership of the National Assembly. They appreciate this openness,” Bagudu said.

He further noted that President Tinubu had instructed his team to work closely with the National Assembly, ensuring that all questions are addressed during committee hearings. With this collaboration, Bagudu believes that the budget will be considered promptly and that once the approval is granted, the final stages of the budget preparation process will begin.
