Akpabio, the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, has come under intense scrutiny following explosive revelations by the BBC regarding budget padding. He was further implicated by Senator Ningi of Bauchi.

Reacting to reports of certain senators receiving 500 million naira for projects in their respective senatorial districts, and the Senate President receiving an astonishing N2.5 billion, Adeyanju expressed profound disapproval.

“Akpabio would have faced firing squad if this was China with the level of revelations from the outrageous budget items padding. How can you insert in the 2024 budget that N2.5billion be used to buy refrigerator and generator in your constituency when minimum wage is 30k?”, He said.
