The chieftains emphasized that the formation and advancement of the APC in Rivers State were primarily the result of the dedicated efforts of numerous loyal members, many of whom even lost their lives in the struggle to establish a strong party structure in the state.
Furthermore, the party leaders criticized President Bola Tinubu for rewarding Wike, who they claimed presided over the party during a period of severe onslaughts in the state.
They questioned Wike’s purported contributions to the APC, highlighting that the party’s growth had shown organic progress since 2019, raising doubts about Wike’s claim of providing merely 80,881 votes to the national party.
The statement further alleged that Wike’s association with the APC was opportunistic, driven by the need to secure a comfort zone for his political ambitions after realizing that his career was in jeopardy.
According to the APC chieftains, Wike aimed to exploit his affiliation with the party to benefit himself while having minimal genuine allegiance to the APC’s growth and ideals in Rivers State.
