APC Postpones Key National Caucus And NEC Sessions

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the indefinite postponement of its National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, which were originally scheduled for September 11 and 12. The announcement was made by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, in a statement issued late Monday night.

The meetings, which had received approval from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and were eagerly anticipated by party members, had even been promoted through advertorials encouraging attendance.

The reason for the sudden postponement was not detailed in the statement. Morka assured both members and the public that new dates for the meetings will be announced in due course.

The statement reads: “Members of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are hereby informed that the National Caucus and National Executive Committee meetings scheduled for September 11 and 12, 2024, respectively, have been postponed.”

While the official statement did not provide a reason, a source at the secretariat revealed to Punch that President Tinubu’s potential absence from the country contributed to the decision. The source indicated that the uncertainty surrounding the President’s availability, due to an international engagement, played a role in the postponement.

“We understand that the President might not be in the country on those dates because of his overseas commitments,” the source explained.
