In an interview with Daily Trust, Muhammad-Baba raised concerns about the government’s decision to allocate the same amount to all states, including Lagos, Oyo, Kano, and Bayelsa, despite their varying populations and levels of need.

He emphasized that the distribution should be based on a proportionate assessment of poverty levels in each state, rather than employing a blanket approach.

Muhammad-Baba highlighted the inadequacy of such an equal distribution in making a substantial impact on poverty alleviation.

He also questioned the accompanying provision of 30,000 bags of rice, stressing that such measures would have limited reach, especially in densely populated states.

The ACF spokesperson criticized the government’s approach, describing it as shambolic and lacking a well-defined strategy.

He emphasized the importance of assisting the poor population but stressed that interventions should be meticulously planned to avoid insignificance.
