Armed Robbers Attack Hotel in Abuja, Kill Popular DJA popular disc jockey, identified as Bashir Dauda, was killed on Saturday during an armed robbery at a hotel in the Gwarinpa area of the Federal Capital Territory.

Dauda was shot during the incident and later died at the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi, Abuja, where he had been taken for medical treatment.

It was reported that guests at the hotel were also robbed of their valuables and personal belongings.

An eyewitness named Sani recounted the incident to Punch, stating that the robbery had caused panic in the area due to the increasing frequency of such crimes. He said, “In the early hours of Saturday, armed robbers attacked the Volcano Hotel in Gwarinpa, robbing guests of their money and phones. A DJ was shot and later died at the hospital in Jabi. Armed robbery incidents have been on the rise in Gwarinpa, and this has heightened fears among residents.”

Confirming the incident in a statement on Sunday, FCT Police Public Relations Officer Josephine Adeh said the police responded immediately to a distress call and found the DJ on the floor. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead. An investigation is ongoing.

She stated, “On 15/06/2024 at about 05:07 am, the FCT Police Command received a distress call about a robbery at Volcano Peak Court Hotel, 4th Avenue, around 03:35 am. Operatives from the Gwarinpa Police Division immediately deployed to the scene, secured the premises, and discovered that Bashir Dauda had been shot by the attackers. The victim was quickly rushed to Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, where doctors confirmed him dead. His body was released to his family for burial according to Islamic rites. The investigation is still ongoing to apprehend the culprits, and further developments will be communicated in due course. The FCT Police Command advises residents to always be conscious of their surroundings and to report suspicious activities to the police immediately for a swift response.”
