The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended Pastor Clinton John of the Mega World Healing Ministry, Giwa Agbado, Ifo Local Government Area, on charges of allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl. The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, revealed in a statement on Saturday night that the pastor had been engaging in unlawful carnal knowledge of the girl since 2022 when she was just 14 years old…….CONTINUE READING
According to Odutola, the victim disclosed to the police that the 43-year-old pastor had consistently threatened to harm her if she ever exposed their illicit relationship. The girl’s family reported the incident to the police after growing suspicious that their daughter might have suffered sexual assault, following recurring infections and concerning behavior.
The police spokesperson stated that the victim displayed signs of distress, prompting her parents to suspect possible involvement in sexual activity while concealing the identity of the perpetrator. The family reported the case to the Agbado divisional Police Station, leading to an investigation.
In part, the police statement read, “A family in Giwa Agbado Ogun State has reported a case of alleged defilement to the Agbado divisional Police Station that their 16-year-old daughter has been repeatedly treated for reoccurring infections, and exhibited frightful tendencies that made the parents suspicious that their daughter may have been involved in sexual intercourse, but concealing the identity of the person.”
The victim eventually confessed to the police that Pastor Clinton John had been engaging in unlawful carnal knowledge of her since November 2022, and she had been threatened with harm if she disclosed the affair. The pastor, upon interrogation, admitted to the crime. The victim has been provided with medical forms for treatment and examination, while Pastor Clinton John will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department Eleweran for discreet investigation.
In related incidents, a 26-year-old man named Monday Agbowade allegedly defiled an 11-year-old girl in Araromi Village via the Idi-Oke area of the state. Additionally, the police are actively pursuing two suspected rapists accused of defiling minors in the Isabo area of Abeokuta and Abule-Osho in the Olambe area of Ifo Local Government Area in November.
