Wike, addressing the ongoing political issues with Governor Sim Fubara, emphasized that the current period is not suitable for politics, stating, “This is not time for politics. When the time comes, we will know who is who.” He expressed indifference to social media criticism and highlighted the importance of engaging with the people directly.

Despite the minister’s claim that the visit was apolitical, speculations about his potential move to the APC intensified. This followed closely after Senator Magnus Abe, the former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, rejoined the APC just two days earlier.

Wike’s unexpected visit to Giadom in Bera community, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers state, attracted notable political figures, including serving senators, House of Representatives members, and leaders from both the APC and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The gathering included Prince Felix Obuah and Ambassador Desmond Akawor, former chairmen of Rivers PDP, as well as Chief Dan Orbih, South-South PDP Chairman, and PDP National Secretary Sam Anyanwu.

During the event, Wike clarified that his visit was a private one without political motives, emphasizing his friendship with Giadom. He urged politicians to focus on making a positive impact on their communities and assured that the right time for political decisions would come.
