Atiku’s Aide Slams Presidency: ‘You Can’t Embarrass Appointees And Act Like Nothing Happened
Phrank Shaibu, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has criticised the Presidency over the announcement and swift withdrawal of Usman Dakingari’s appointment as Nigeria’s ambassador to Turkey.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a post on , Shaibu faulted the Presidency for failing to offer an official explanation for the reversal.
He described the episode as the 11th public turnaround by the current administration, arguing that repeated reversals breed confusion, uncertainty and amount to a disregard for public institutions.
Shaibu also recalled previous incidents in which deceased individuals were named for appointments, while living nominees were publicly embarrassed by abrupt withdrawals.
According to him, an administration that cannot properly manage or track its own official announcements cannot be trusted to govern effectively, stressing that governance should not be handled like a social media post that can be deleted without accountability.
He further accused the Presidency of being preoccupied with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, instead of concentrating on competent governance.
In his words, “They appointed the dead before. Now they announced Dakingari as ambassador to Turkey and withdrew it before lunchtime at Iya Oyo, without any explanation. One moment Usman Dakingari was an ambassador; minutes later, the appointment never happened. This is the 11th public reversal by this administration—11 instances of confusion, uncertainty and institutional disrespect.
“While Nigerians are grappling with hardship, the Presidency appears more focused on @atiku and @PeterObi than on basic competence. A government that cannot keep track of its own announcements cannot run a country.
“Governance is not a WhatsApp broadcast that can simply be deleted. Serious governments explain their actions, verify appointments before announcing them, and do not wake up to appoint the dead, embarrass the living, and then act as if nothing happened.”
