Atiku’s Spokesman Criticizes Bwala For Overseeing Redesignation Of Tinubu’s Media PersonnelDemola Olarewaju, the Special Assistant to former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar on Digital Media Strategy, has taken a swipe at Daniel Bwala following the recent restructuring of President Bola Tinubu’s media team. Olarewaju insinuated that Bwala’s role had been diminished as part of the shake-up.

Naija News reports that the changes were announced late at night by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Onanuga revealed that Sunday Dare, who was previously Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, had been reassigned to Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications. Meanwhile, Daniel Bwala, who had recently been appointed Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, was redesignated as Special Adviser on Policy Communication.

Reacting to the announcement, Olarewaju expressed his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), questioning the timing and underlying message behind the reshuffle. He wrote: “Egbon Onanuga didn’t wait until morning or later to issue that press release re-designating Bwala’s position. Man dropped it ‘as e dey hot’ at 11:28 PM.”

He went on to suggest that the timing of the release indicated Bwala had been demoted after a swift decision. Olarewaju added, “It means they accessed Tinubu, made their case, and demoted Bwala, then came out immediately to announce it.”

Olarewaju further mocked the demotion, interpreting it as a message to Bwala: “The coded message to Bwala is: ‘You might be in office, but we are in power. You might know Tinubu, but we’ve known Tinubu. We might let you be with us, but you’re not one of us, and you will know your place or we will quickly teach you.’”

He continued, criticizing the manner in which Bwala had been treated, stating: “Do you know how many people have been waiting to be rewarded in the Tinubu camp that you just came into the room and sat down on a chair? ‘Oga, stand up and stoop down by that side.’”

Olarewaju concluded by pointing out how Bwala was not only publicly demoted but also sent a clear message: “They’ve started dirtying you immediately and not even privately, just to send you a message.
