Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who convened with community leaders on July 18, emphasized the need for calm among Paleowei’s family and the Obrigbene community, from which he hailed in Ekeremor Local Government Area. Ewhrudjakpo, in a statement relayed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media Doubara Atasi, assured that the state government collaborates closely with law enforcement to ensure swift arrests and trials in competent courts.

Ewhrudjakpo underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring the culprits face justice, urging cooperation from Amassoma residents in the pursuit of the suspects. He cautioned against vigilantism among NDU students, highlighting that the primary suspect was already in police custody due to community efforts.

“We extend our condolences to Paleowei’s family and the Obrigbene community over this tragic loss in Amassoma,” Ewhrudjakpo expressed. “We implore them to remain composed as we work with security agencies to resolve this matter. Community leaders must also be vigilant to prevent such incidents.”

Representatives Odudu Awipi and Cletus Paleowei, speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, reiterated their demand for justice, urging authorities to ensure the perpetrators face the consequences of their actions.
